AILC certificate courses are designed for Indigenous Australians who are active in Indigenous affairs through employment or as volunteers in Indigenous community organisations, government departments or corporations at local and regional levels and who:

• want to help shape the future of their community and region
• have the capacity and prospects to lead at local and regional level
• are committed to developing and sharing a vision for Indigenous Australia
• will complete course requirements.

Most courses involve residential workshops and some independent study at home.

The challenging nature of the residentials and the sensitive nature of some discussion topics require additional support. An Indigenous psychologist/counsellor will be present and available for individual consultations during residential programs.
