Operations Manager

The Australian Indigenous Leadership Centre (AILC) is an Indigenous not-for-profit organisation, an Australian company limited by guarantee. Located in Canberra, it aims - through educational and experiential courses, networking, mentoring and other means - to encourage and support Indigenous leaders at all levels to develop the knowledge, skills, confidence and shared vision needed to lead communities, organisations and the nation in the 21st century.

The Operations Manager, under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will have overall responsibility for the management of staff and day to day operations of the AILC.  The Operations Manager will also provide ongoing advice and support to the CEO as directed.

The Operations Manager will:

1.     Have responsibility for the efficient management, control, co-ordination and operation of a small office to:

  • administer the office of the AILC;
  • organise meetings, teleconferences and prepare and distribute agenda papers for the CEO;
  • produce and distribute correspondence, minutes and newsletters in a timely manner;
  • ensure appropriate preparation and administration of planned courses and meetings;

2.     Co-ordinate and, where required, deliver AILC business priorities including:

  • application of best practice;
  • implementation of strategic and operational planning;
  • equitable use of resources;
  • a high level of overall performance.

3.     Manage staff in a team environment, staff performance and professional development for the achievement of AILC business requirements and outcomes including:

  • All HR functions in relation to staff contracts, performance management plans, leave applications and codes of conduct.

4.     Responsibility for ensuring financial management in accordance with AILC guidelines

5.     Assist the CEO to develop proposals and submissions for future business

6.     Ensure that the AILC adheres to provisions and stipulations of legislation, regulations, determinations and all other requirements, including both internal and external audit functions and stakeholder requirements.

7.     Undertake other projects from time to time in consultation with the CEO
